The 12th Inter-Government Secondary Schools Debating Competition

SEK debaters won the preliminary round defeating their opponent team from Yuen Long Public Secondary School in the 12th Inter-Government Secondary Schools Debating Competition. In addition, SEK debate team captain Neff Sophia Naomi (2D) bagged the Best Debater Award for her outstanding debating skills. The preliminary round of the competition was held on March 18, 2023 on Zoom.
The motion for the preliminary competition was “The government should make it compulsory for dementia patients to wear GPS trackers in Hong Kong.” Acknowledging the usefulness of GPS trackers for dementia patients, SEK debaters – led by their captain, Sophia - presented undeniable arguments on why it is unnecessary to make it compulsory. Other team members included Ali Shiloh Asia (2D) and Talwar Guneet (2D).
SEK debaters will face another team in the quarter finals on 29th April 2023. We wait with bated breath to see they will perform.
